Meta says makes search of Russian state media’s posts harder

WASHINGTON/MOSCOW, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- U.S. company Meta tries to curb the spread of disinformation on its applications and continues to consult external experts, which includes deletion ofwi content violating the company’s rules, it said late on Friday in a statement.

This is why Meta will reduce content from accounts of Russian state media on Facebook and Instagram, which means it will be more difficult to find their posts on the platforms.

Meta also banned advertisements on the accounts of the Russian state media and demonetized them.

Meta President for Global Affairs Nick Clegg said on Twitter that the company will do its best to make Facebook’s services available for Russians again after the communications watchdog’s decision to mute the resource.

The regulator said on February 25 that it started slowing down Facebook traffic in the country for non-fulfilment of the requirement to unblock the accounts of four Russian media – TV channel Zvezda, news agency RIA Novosti, online resources Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru.
